A calot is used to neatly finish steel wire or nylon thread to nicely hide the knot or crimp bead. It is important that the knot you attach is very sturdy and secured with a drop of glue. You have to cut the ends against the knot very short. These calots are very small and that gives you a very subtle finish. This also means that the crimp bead or knot that you want to hide must be very small. Actually not bigger than 1 mm.
